Grand Theft Auto Online’s latest update seems to pay tribute to the original high-end criminal: pirates. Along with the usual suite of discounts, bonuses, and a new vehicle to purchase, players can find shipwrecks along the game’s coasts this week with scraps of clothing that can be combined into an old-timey outfit.

This week’s GTA Online update was shared via the Rockstar Newswire, but you can find all the important details down below.

The standout additions to GTA Online this week are the shipwrecks that are turning up on the shores of Los Santos. Inside are treasures and scraps of clothing, and while it’s not clear what the treasures are, seven of the scraps can eventually be combined to create a new outfit, although we don’t know exactly what it is or what it looks like. Players can find one shipwreck per day, and shipwrecks will also spawn in different locations each day.

Macau is famous all over the Asian market as the gambling heaven. However, it seems that it struggles with non-gaming investments. The attached Facebook page has since deleted all its posts and its Pinterest page has fake Mr Beast giveaways being used to promote (also) fake events. Saul Eugene, 23, knew he was walking into hostile territory when he attended Thursday night’s Trump rally in Minneapolis wearing a Colin Kaepernick jersey. But he never expected to be ejected from the venue.

Trump has very publicly disparaged Kaepernick and other NFL players who’ve knelt during the National Anthem in protest of police violence and racial injustice. Eugene is a self-described “political operative” who says he’s worked for a variety of Democratic politicians in Minnesota. The International Skating Union (ISU) has apologized for including an Auschwitz-themed figure skating outfit as a nominee for its “Best Costume” of the year award. Responding to backlash mounting on social media, the ISU wrote on Twitter that the costume, which was worn by 23-year-old Russian skater Anton Shulepov at ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events in France and Japan in November, was included in “error.”

Diablo 4 will be playable to anyone for another weekend to test server stability in May, Blizzard announced in a stream today.

The Diablo 4 “Server Slam” playtest will go from May 12 through May 14 and will let you earn the previous beta rewards as well as a new one for defeating the world boss, Ashava.

The beta will take place in the same location, the Fractured Peaks, as the last ones. Characters from the previous two beta weekends will not carry over to the Server Slam test and any progress you make during it won’t carry over to launch. You’ll have to choose from one of the game’s five classes and play a new character up until the Server Slam’s level 20 cap.

Here’s exactly when you can pre-load the Diablo 4 Server Slam beta and when it will start:

Farming game Immortal Life has just released from Early Access after a few years in development, bringing a unique spin to the genre of Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, and Stardew Valley. YiFeng Studio’s fam life game is based on a sect of martial artists who, finding their home school devastated, resolve to rebuild the misty valley into a place of learning and beauty.

It’s heavily based in the Chinese fantasy aesthetics of wuxia fiction and the idea of “cultivation,” or improving one’s powers and spirit in order to achieve martial arts mastery and immortality.

To that end you use your powers to become and ever-more-potent farmer, deploying magic to plant seeds, water then, and harvest with enchanted tools. You also fish, cook, and craft to cultivate your soul. You also make better friends with your brothers and sisters within the martial sect, and helping them with their own problems lets you unlock new items and skills.

I will admit, an AI Rickrolling a human completely off its own digital back has a certain appeal, and I’m willing to suspend some disbelief in the hope that maybe this customer service chatbot really did decide to fake-out a user with an OG meme. Freaky as that thought might be.

The latest Major Order for Helldivers 2 has just dropped and, while I think killing 2 billion bugs in a week sounds slightly excessive, it seems as if this is no challenge at all for the dedicated Divers hellbent on spreading democracy. 

Now the Automaton invasion has slowed down, the next directive is to refill the E-710 reserves and stage a counter-offensive strike to kill 2 billion Terminids. You may think that it’s an impossible task, but never underestimate Helldivers 2 players, as they have already managed to exterminate 15 million in just over an hour. So by this rate, the Major Order should be completed well within the time frame of six days. 

But even with the Divers’ zealous nature, 2 billion bugs would require around 300,000 players to kill 6,600 Terminids apiece, so it’s probably better to get stuck in as soon as possible. Helldivers 2 currently has just over 75,000 players, according to SteamDB, but this doesn’t account for console players or the fact that most of the playerbase is probably asleep right now. So, if everything goes to plan, this could mean that the bugs on Estanu and Oshuane will be obliterated off the face of these planets.

NetherRealm recently announced that Mortal Kombat 1 will be coming out in September, and will be both a reboot and a sequel. Now it’s got a Steam page too, and that Steam page includes its system requirements.

They’re not too steep, still only asking for 8GB of RAM and even on the Recommended tier a GTX 1080 Ti or a Radeon RX 5700 XT. Since fighting games usually target a framerate of 60fps, they’re often not that demanding. It’s worth noting that Mortal Kombat 1 asks for 100GB of available storage space, simply to add it to the list of games proving the era of 100GB games is upon us.

Install sizes have come a long way from Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition fitting tidily in 20GB a decade ago. To be fair, Mortal Kombat 11 took up a similar amount of space, thanks largely to its 4K cinematics. (I suspect all the cosmetics demanded a fair amount of real estate too.)

Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update has been in the works for just under a year—I know because I can’t stop checking my watch. As the release date (March 19) approaches, developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has teased that the update packs in a lot more than what’s been revealed. 

Thanks to a sneak peek last year, we already know that 1.6 will include a new major festival, two mini-festivals, late-game content, new items and crafting recipes, 100+ new lines of dialogue, and winter outfits for the villagers. However, in an interview with Polygon, where Barone discussed the Stardew Valley soundtrack concert, he also teased that “there’s a lot more of the update than people think.” 

“It’s more focused on the valley and the core areas of the game,” Barone continued. “It just adds so much stuff to all the different aspects of the game. It’s also a time of high intensity. The patch is pretty much ready to go. But there are a few things I still need to do. Until everything is totally sealed, it’s going to be a little bit stressful.”

Larian Studios kinda knocked it out of the park with Baldur’s Gate 3—and while it’ll be leaving Dungeons & Dragons for some time, I’m nonetheless hyped beyond belief to see what Swen Vincke & Co. are cooking. 

It’s been known that Larian’s tackling two projects since April, as per a Steam community update shared by founder Swen Vincke, but he noted that it was “still early days”. While I wouldn’t think Larian’d tease and then ding-dong ditch in such a fashion, it wouldn’t be the first time an early promise turned out to not be feasible.

But it really looks like it’s full steam ahead for Larian—as per a recent tweet made by the developer announcing the opening of a studio in Warsaw, Poland: “With two very ambitious RPGs now starting development, what better way to see our visions realised than by growing the team and opening a 7th studio in the heart of Poland’s lively gaming scene!”

In a new and frankly embarrassing interview with Variety, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said there’s actually never been a problem with “systemic” harassment at the company, and that reports of such things were mainly the result of unions trying to cause trouble.

2021 was a very bad year for Activision Blizzard. In July of that year, California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing—now known as the Civil Rights Department—filed a lawsuit alleging widespread discrimination and sexual harassment at the company; that was followed by other investigations, the departure of numerous high-level employees, apologies, fines, multiple additional lawsuits, and significant pushback from employees, who founded the ABK Workers Alliance to help drive unionization efforts and bring about other meaningful change at the company.

Despite all of that, Activision Blizzard’s board of directors said in June 2022 that, after conducting its own internal investigation, there was no evidence of systemic gender-based misconduct at the studio. Now, Kotick is not only sticking to that story, he’s taking it a step further by pointing the finger at labor organizers.
